User-Contributed Transcription Mission. Samuel has concluded a bargain with Uncle Natty for a piece of land next above where we live 127 feet by 100 for $400. It is good land and a very fine situation. He has not quite decided whether to build next year or not. According to the sale of other lots on the street by Mr. Harlow and others, he has got quite a good bargain. Uncle Natty seems to have taken a great fancy to Samuel. I believe I wrote you in my last letter of the death of his wife. I wrote you an elaborate account of our visit to Deer Isle which you have probably rec'd before now. We had no chowder. Samuel was not well enough to eat them and I was frightened out of my appetite. There is a report that Mary Pomroy is married - Know not. The heater lot is being graded, terraced and otherwise beautified by the city. Asa Walker and family have emigrated to Oregon, not California. Many are going to Cal. from these parts this fall. Col. Mitchel & son, Hector, Joseph & Ben Sargent, C.A.Everett etc. etc. Abby Loring expects her Fred home soon to take her back there - she is anxious to go. Spirituous liquors of divers sorts lay the dust wonderfully in Bangor now a days. Three boys were taken up for stealing Sat. A son of Dr. Laughton, son of Jeremiah Curtis, and a young Col. amore - all quite young - 13 or 14.14--- Eliab got here last evening in the driving rain, bringing James with him to drive home the cow for beef next year. He says Mother has just written
