User-Contributed Transcription they are all comfortable cared for for the present. I think Lucy a most excellent girl. She will probably attend Mary Tower's school. She taught at Milo last summer you know- got acquainted with Lucy & seemed much interested in her. I am reading The Memoir of Mrs. P.L.H. Smith, wife of Rev. Eli Smith, trip to Syria. I like it much, though I am not usually interested in memoirs. The memoir of Miss Mary Lyon I wanted & mean to have. I want Almeda to read it. I have from the Library the History of the Norman Conquest. We bought of a Colporteur D'Aubigne's Hist. of the Reformation, in four Vols. with portraits of D'Aubigne and Luther-also several other good books. We had a letter from Eliab yesterday. Samuel started for the woods again yesterday morning. He is considerably hurried- expects to do pretty well this winter. Spiritual Knockings are "all the rage" in Bangor- two or three have "got'em" on our street. It is quite a money making business- twenty five cents for every visitation. There seems something really mysterious about it, but I cannot think it is any good. We have had an unusual quantity of snow and cold weather this winter, but the weather begins to soften now. Mr. Tibbets continues to board with us. He is very good, obliging etc. but entirely uneducated. Said to be an excellent workman. Do write soon and often - Affectionately. Sister Lucy.
