User-Contributed Transcription Monday eve Oct. 29thAnd so Joseph you went off without calling to see us. I suppose you that you were doing right probably you did do right. I have no reason to think otherwise but we so much expected to see you that we felt very much disappointed. We expect now to commence housekeeping next week in the Emery house. I think there is but little doubt about that matter now. I have not seen Fletcher since I came from Milo he has gone to Noridgewock. Morrison thinks we can get judgment in January. Ireland was here one day this week wanted to fix up our a/c should have done it but Eliab had the note. I have no doubt but that the note is good, it is a great trouble to do business through a third person. The Mayo's I have not seen, shall give them a call soon. Shall probably sell Porter's note to Cushing & Heyford. Think I shall leave Wings note and Clark's a/c with Morrison to be duned some people are afraid of lawyers.Rec'd a letter from Charles H. Metcalf no news, all well. Business at the Mill quite lively sending shooks to Frankfort Hathorne & Co. have sold their shooks to W. Brown & Son 55 cts at the Mill a very great trade for Hathorne. Frank is at the bottom of it in a speculating fit, it is something of load for Brown $20000, at a very high price. I am doing considerable surveying now, so that I quite profitable to my employers which is I reckon to my advantage, also. Think we shall own the Brandywine some time yet. If it did'nt get wrecked last night! I expect[left-hand side] Nov. 1st O! how Mr. Crosby has got the horrors this morning.
