User-Contributed Transcription staid till Mond. morning. Boil on his leg - not so bad as before- ought to go to water cure! I can't leave my family to go, you know - ought to have gone last summer if at all - guess I don't need it - wrote to Ann this week - ought to write Isaac tonight, and 'tis nine o'clock - shoulder been lame & could'nt write - good deal to do for Jane besides all my other work. I don't know what to say one word about your remaining there or coming home. I cannot endure to think that nothing will help you, and it certainly seems as if your present treatment would be as likely to as any. Miss Roxanna Treat (Joseph's sister) who visited Margaret Crosby last week, does aver that Mary Tower is engaged to one Hunting, who is going out as a Missionary. I rec'd a letter from Mary recently - she is attending school at Woburn Mass. Her roommate, Miss Lord, it is said is engaged to a brother of Mary's betrothed. Mr. Crosby continues hypo bad - Margaret been sick. Don't think of anything more now - In hurry - half sick and sleepy. I hope Dr. P. was so naughty as to say you was'nt getting any better, to back up the establishment, rather than because it is so. Do write particularly all about yourself. good night brother. Sis Lucy.I am learning Jane to write.[upside down] Samuel & Lucy Dec. 12, 1849
