Metcalf to Olive & Mehitable Furber greeting.I conclude from my feelings 'tis about time for me to direct another "missile" at you; so prepare yourselves to recieve it manfully & return the blow. Eliab and I had a fine ride down here. It did'nt look quite so much like home here as the place I had left did, but it answers for a temporary home. I found a score or less of my family at Mr. Kenney's waiting and wondering. My school since haying commenced is not quite as large as before. Not more than thirty-five or so usually. I rec'd letters last mail from Albina & Isaac. Why not from you too? Isaac's letter, by some queer mistake was sent unsealed! Don't know who read it. Papers from Joseph also; contained not much interesting except three pieces of poetry. "Mother's smile" "Words are things" and "large (not great) women". From the latter I will extract."If little ones our sense pleaseAnd add to life one pleasure, A larger one will joys increaseAnd multiply our treasure.The last best gift to man from heavenWas woman - love possessing- 'Twere weakness then - 'twere folly even-'To accept of half a blessing," What think
