User-Contributed Transcription logs - he will write about the trade - perhaps I should not tell it right. I am sorry for one thing - he will not be able to come home to dinner usually - had hired an engineer & one mill man. I don't know how many men he has - gets them boarded for $2.25 per week. he may do well, and may fail out. Old Senator is in good plight and doing nicely. Samuel concluded it was useless to wait for a surveyor's appointment. Please by the first opport my black lace veil which was left. A man is waiting to take the bundle & apple trees so I must finish in great haste. I have rode out twice. Prof. Shepard & wife called just as I was eating my dinner. The poor bashful man was so confused when I wheeled my self into his presence that he advanced & retreated two or three times before he ventured to shake hands. A darling good man. Mr. & Mrs. Crawley were here to dine one day. I told Dr. Mc. about my lameness, which inclined him still more to the opinion that mine is a spinal disease. He had a similar case once when for months the part was exceedingly painful & some while it looked just as well as ever. Mine continues to trouble me slightly by spells - today it burns & almost smarts, and I notice the skin is all peeling off over the whole part. Sam'l has subscribed for the Independent. I have read Hist. of Josephine and we are reading "Great Cities by Todd author of Students Manual." Very good indeed. I want to hear from Jane very much - tell her I want to know if she is a very good girl.
