User-Contributed Transcription We are having some extremely hot weather, making men & women melt (almost) and musquitoes and melous thrive abundantly. I imagine from all accounts that the people at Milo are woefully tormented with skeeters. Yesterday forenoon a Mr. Leo, a converter Papist, a gent of the Am. For. & Chris. Union preacher - an Irishman. In the afternoon, our favorite student, Mr. Douglass on the immortality of the soul. He was educated at Amherst & is a great admirer of Pres. Hitchcock. P.P. seems quite like himself. He teases to go out doors & "pick foway" all the time most, but the Dr. says he must only go night & mornings. I have for "Seven lamps of Architecture" & "Sunny Memories" from the Library now. Eliab seems rather lonely nowadays - comes up here once in awhile. I want to hear all about your visit at Elyria. Pleas take excellent are of yourself & come soon. In haste Your loving sister Lucy.
