User-Contributed Transcription Lucy Aug. 24 '54Dear Brothers Mother has left part of the sheet for me, so while Percie sleeps I will write. Mother has told you how poor and sick he is. We have many fears that he will not get over it, or if he does that he will be a poor, pindling little fellow a good while. It seems so sad to see him, he has always been before, such a great, fat, hearty, frolicsome fellow. Once in a while, when anything very funny happens, he make out to smile, a little sad smile, almost enough to bring tears from ones eyes. However, the bad weather is nearly over, and his big teeth, three or four at once, are getting through, so we hope he will soon be better. Mother and I have talked a little bit about taking him to Dunbarton if he gets well enough before the weather is too cold. My own health is not very good - am sort of run down and poor, and we think the journey, and comfort of seeing the good people there might be beneficial to all of us. I have been expecting a letter from Nettie for some time. In regard to Charles' coming home, particularly Albina's feelings about it, it is no laughing matter. She cannot bear trouble and care so well as some people, - she says her heart will break if Charles does not come - and seriously, if he stays away another winter I should have fears for her heart or her head. I do think it is
