User-Contributed Transcription as can be - she does everything she can for me without asking - when Percie goes out in the kitchen, she says "shtop now with me, Percie; Don't trouble your Mother." Leave her work to amuse him out there. The only trouble is, she is disposed to be too good in the matter of sugar & cake, I can hardly restrain her. What beautiful days! How wise little Mayo will become in regard to cows and sheep, horses & oxen, pigs & poultry, if he stays at Milo a while. What an ignoramus Percie will be beside him when he comes back. I think we shall get along nicely here, but I should be very glad to have Lizzie come as soon as Almeda is willing to spare her, which I suppose will not be till you come away. There are so many things to jump & stoop for continually, she would be a great help to me. I cannot call Ellen five times a minute you know. Samuel and I are reading French and Potiphar papers. He has been at home both evenings, except a little whole at the big Caucus last night. Potiphar is capital. Percie says "pot" about once in five minutes all day; I dare not disregard his call, so we go over all the maneuvers, usually to no purpose
