User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Dec. 1853nicely rested before he went - he almost decided to go monday night in the stage, but finally waited till tuesday morn & was well he did, for the stage broke down monday night & injured some of the passengers. I want to hear all about Mr. Gilman's children. Am greatly obliged for the playthings Charlie sent. Percie likes them much. If I get it done in season, I will send him and Josie something in return. Mallie is going to write some. Eliab has a comforter on his knee. I want Albina Dear Mother Your letter I received last evening one hour or two before Samuel came home. How did you get such a cold? That "great washing" is the secret of it, I know. I do think Mother, that you wrong yourself and trouble your children by so doing, to make haste and make a good visit at Brownville and then come down here so that I can take care of you and keep you from washing. I expect Albina tries her best, but can do no good.[left-hand side] love to Albina - tell her I shall write to her very soon. Aff.- Lucy.
