User-Contributed Transcription Bangor July 19 53 Bangor July 19 - 1853Dear Sister Anna After receiving your letter of last Saturday, we about decided to go to Milo tomorrow (Wednes) but the next news was the burning of the Chicago school house-, the letter containing which, you have undoubtedly received: We now conclude that you will not probably feel in so much hurry about starting, and as we are daily expecting Theodore, and also as it will be more convenient for Samuel to go next week, we shall wait and go Monday, unless we receive letters from you that you still adhere to your plan of coming Monday; in which case I shall probably not go at all this summer, for various reasons. Please write by first mail your conclusions. Theodore & Sarah will undoubtedly be here this week and we do not like to be away when they come. If we go before they come Samuel would want to go again, which would be inconvenient. Isn't it singular about the school house? Lissie says there is a Jonah. We rode up to see her last night - she says she don't know anything what to think, but once in a while bursts into a hearty laugh. I think she feels a good deal & laughs to keep from crying! She thinks it best by all means to go, according to Mr. Carpenter's invitation. (I did not see the letter
