User-Contributed Transcription Lucy May 22nd 55 Bangor - May 22 - 1855Dear MotherI am afraid you think I have been rather remiss about writing lately, but there has not seemed to be anything to write. Isaac and I have been gardening more or less every day - By his kind assistance, my posey garden shines unwontedly. I like ever so much comfort working out there & I believe grow strong daily. Percie is out as much as half the time when it is pleasant, - his cheecks are growing delightfully hard and rosey as well as his skin getting to be a fine brown - he tans very easy. He is taking to Lizzie finally, though nobody is quite equal to Mamma yet. Lizzie is more womanly than when here before, & of course two years ought to make some difference[left-hand side and top] send my special requests as apologies through Mr. Sargent's people, to Alice because what I gave her for a lily was only a tulip. I thought they were lilacs while all the while they were not out of the ground. Don't fail to mention it for I know she'll think strange. In haste. good bye- most night.? Lovingly daughter Lucy.
