Eliab & Mallie were sadly frightened and troubled about Gertie yesterday, but when the Dr. came in the evening, he said he could see no change in her - went up stairs again to examine her & comfort Mallie when just ready to go out - said he should not be surprised any morning to hear that she was dead, she was so very feeble, that any sudden change would not be surprising, but that he thought her no worse, & from her keeping along without sinking lower, he had hope that she would recover. This morning she seemed a little brighter & we all feel easier about her, though only Mallie & Eliab were alarmed yesterday. Very sick children will look differently at different times you
