I thank you both very much, and reproved myself for not answering it before now, though I despair at the commencement of writing either so good or so long in one to you. Of course, I cannot have so much interesting matter to communicate as you have these constantly. We have had no snow (except a little once or twice which melted almost as fast as it came) until within a week, and warm ploughing weather almost all the time. Lumberers have had the blues considerably. Some have been obliged to drive their teams out of the woods. Samuel would have been obliged to do the same very soon if this cold weather and snow had not come. He will write to you all about his affairs as soon as he can find time. You can hardly imagine how continually busy he has been, both
