FurberSt Paul Aug 14 57ElyriaSt Paul Aug 14th 1857Dear MotherYours of July 30th & Aug 7th are rec It is a very great comfort to me to receive your letters & know that you are all well, but value them most for the counsels which they contain. I thank you very much that you are willing to advise and caution me. I hope you will keep on doing just so and I will try to remember the things you tell me. Many, very many are snares and temptations which surround one here, and many are they which fall into them, in respect to some of them, the more gross? and sensual which count their victims by thousands I am fortunate. They are not temptations to me. it requires no effort to shun them, but without doubt they are many temptations here for all and those which are the most dangerous
