User-Contributed Transcription a fortnight ago to day, to take up his abode in Walter Brown's store, with Frank for a Calf, as he says. Had a bit of a letter from him last week. Mr. Brown will give him thirty or forty dollars the first year, and next year 25 or 30 dollars per month. He likes pretty well, I guess, sitting up on a high, three-legged stool. Why don't you write more all how you prosper, what you and every body else is doing. We had a monstrous long, great letter from Isaac last week on a great sheet of yellow fool'scap. You'd laugh to see it, I know. Nothing particular for news. About the same as usual. Hay is very scarce about here. Charles won't sell under eight dollars, and after two or three time more not under 10, he says.. Some people won't buy of him at eight, but go to Webb and get miserable poor stuff for six. They'll have to come to him when that's gone. John Livermore wanted to see you t'other day. Somebody said 'twas to buy your hay to speculate upon, but perhaps they did'nt know. He and Samuel Hobbs have been here for hay this week. Theodore Furber has sold his farm to Sam. They have taken a job at Great-works to raft five million of boards at eighteen cents per thousand this summer. Sarah is going there to keep house & take care of the men & in Sept. they are going to start for Wisconsin. They will make lots of money this Summer I expect. Ann and I were at Mr. Furber's visiting Teusday. Aron Hill's wife has been very sick - had violent convulsion fits - was given over by the Physicians. But
