User-Contributed Transcription big dinner to get for three folks, you know. We live mostly on "bread & butter and apple sauce" these days! Samuel's favorite aliment - mine too. Makes for dishes to wash! Beans once a week, of course, Mother! How did the things suit? I want to go to Milo again - mean to by and by. Prospect now is not much business at the mill this summer. Jane seems as much interested reading the Bible, as you often see a child in any story - puts queer constructions on it sometimes., makes me think of Lissie Doe sometimes. Said when a little girl she read the passage "This is the heir - come let us kill him" Thought it over to herself. "This is the hair comb" - rejoicing that she has come to one thing in the Bible that she could understand! 25th Very windy yesterday, and I not very well, so I did not go to meeting. L. brought me home Eliab's letter from Isaac. glad to hear from some of you -been wondering why you did not write. One of Prof. Shepherd's great sermons yester, afternoon - subject sin, its progressive character, results etc. brought in the Rumseller in the course of his sermon, how hardened in sin etc. "Would build house on the very skulls of those he had ruined?, mingle their bones with the frame work & cement it together with their blood, while the groans of his victims was the music of his apartments etc." I have not got it right, but that is the substance. I have washed your bed blankets today, besides other woolen and a few white clothes, got done, and floors washed a little after twelve. To be sure Samuel "stood over me" and helped me all he could - pounded, wrung out the blankets, hung out the clothes etc. so I must not take all the credit to myself. Sewing Circle tomorrow at Mr. Lewis's. All the gentlemen that usually attend meetings as The Hall invited - great jam in the evening.
