User-Contributed Transcription Bangor June 24 1852 Bangor June 14 - 1852.Dear Mother You have been gone about a day so I suppose it is time for me to commence a letter to you. You know when anybody goes away from anywhere, there is always something (some time a series of things) happens more wonderful than usual that makes anybody wish anybody had staid a day longer. Well, we passed a quiet day yesterday, after our usual fashion - about tea time who should appear to us but Rev. Mr. Partridge, his wife and baby, to stay all night. They had been to tea. We received them graciously. Lucy and Jane trimmed round like women, prepared the "go to meetin' chamber," got things ready for breakfast etc. We had baked veal for dinner yesterday and some slices cold for breakfast with warm potatoes, bread & butter, & doughnuts, all ready by 1/2 past sic this morning. They went out in the Boston at 11 this A.M. Samuel gave Mrs. P. $5.00 as a parting present! I guess they feel poor.P.M. Well, yesterday afternoon Lucy ironed all but the starched clothes. Those I have done this forenoon. So our ironing for the week is done. Lucy went to school this morning, but soon returned - no school today & perhaps not tomorrow - Miss Call's cousin[left-hand side] If you would only write everything to me as I do to you!
