User-Contributed Transcription Elyria April 13th 1857Dear MotherI suppose you would like to see my hand writing by the time this will reach you. you will see by what I've wrote Eliab about how I am getting along, I read a letter recd by Anna from you the day I reached here. you of course must be a practical judge of some things or persons upon which you give an opinion, if you knew all that I know I dont see how you could write as you do, it is a great comfort to me to know that you love and esteem me. I only wish that I could more than I do merit that esteem and love, if I could find words how gladly would I express to you the deep love and gratitude which I bear to you. May heaven bless you. How much I want to see Percie. yet I feel that it is best that he is with you. tell that father sends him a great deal of love and wants him to be a good boy. and I will write him a letter when I get to Minnesota. I have been spending the time here very pleasantly between the
