User-Contributed Transcription Bangor April 18 1854 Lucy April '54 Bangor Apr. 18 -1854Dear Mother It is Eliab's birth day, as perhaps you recollect.Samuel thinks of going to Milo tomorrow so I will write a bit to send by him. The enclosed biddy piece please return by him. The book I promised to Charlie last winter as soon as he could read. I would keep it as a kind of reward & let him read & see the pictures when he has been good. I think there are some very sweet little hymns for a child to learn. The tamarind stories will perhaps please the children. Mallie feels a little hurt, I fear, because you have not written to her particularly, especially as she sent the figs & helped send the collar! She told Eliab she was afraid you were offended with her, but you mustn't say a word as if I had mentioned it to you: only write her soon. She feels particular about such things you know. They are just deciding to buy the Tebbets house. Mallie will write you about it. If they go to keeping house, the family at Easthampton will break up immediately, so that Mallie can have things from there, and Mary will make her permanent home in Bangor.I guess she will have a good many things from there, nice ones too. We have had letters from Anna and Isaac lately, & presume you have also. Poor Nettie has been sick again. I very much fear that if she does not hasten from that climate, she will go into a decline.
