User-Contributed Transcription wrath on account of my having a few words with Mrs. Griffith. Then I was so provoked I could hardly refrain from speaking, when you left here, that none of the young people nor gentleman in the stage had politeness enough to offer you a back seat. Poor Lizzie sat down very disconsolate with tears in her eyes after you went away. She had a bad cold for a few days - did not seem at all well & I kept her at home three days and dosed her with thoroughwort syrup. Her appetite was not at all good, - I have her carry luncheons to school, but all the girls tease for the so there is not much comfort in it - "give me a taste," give me a taste," She is nicely now - This fine weather is enough to cure anybody. The big new ship is launched today. Samuel & I and Lizzie are going. Day before yesterday just at night, Samuel found eight bags of liquor, hid under his wharf at the mill. It was so near night, there was not good time to get a warrant, so he forthwith hired a team and had it brought over home. There was a social gathering at the vestry n the evening, where[left-hand side]little girl last Wednesday. Miss Pitcher called yesterday - says she don't see as she can get along without Lizzie- wants me to intercede
