User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Nov. 10 1853 Bangor Nov.10 - 1853Dear Mother I will write a bit to you this morning, not because I owe a letter but because I so much want to get one from you. It is cold and windy, though bright and sunny. Samuel is at the mill, Lizzie at school, the darling Percie asleep, Isabel chopping mince meat and John Sheady banking the house. By the way, the last named person seems to be very clever and bright, is fifteen years old, came from Ireland three years ago, father dead, supports his mother who lives in Brewer and is unable to work much herself. He has been to school, can read & has studied arithmetic some. Such an one if willing to go there, would he just what Charles needs on the farm, but I suppose most prefer to job about the city somewhere. He will probably be here, hoeing, digging onions, sawing
