Furber St Paul, Aug 26 1857 ElysiaSt. Paul Aug 26th 1857Dear Mother:How much I would love to be with you today, and most likely if were I would sit and say nothing, if we can silence the tongue. we cannot still thought. it seems so just and good to look back that I sometimes fear that I look too much in that direction, not looking forward and up enough. There is so much that is repulsive in the world that I shrink from contact with it and I expect to an extent that is wrong, lest how can I help it when almost every such contact gives pain, I sometimes wish that I was made of material not so sensitive, what's the use of it? Or can we if we would? As I said to a friend in a letter a few days since
