User-Contributed Transcription Monday night and Jane is not gone yet so I'll scribble a little more. the Stage Man said he would drive round this way so Jane sat here all ready from 9 or 10 till one oclock she got so impatient & disappointed that she had quite a cry. I don't know yet why did didn't come this way. I will go down with her tomorrow. I had a letter from Joseph at last. He says he shall stay there longer. I think from his letter that there is not much if any prospect of his being benefited by the "Treatments,, he is trying it very faithfully I should think. Packing, Douche etc. & he says he has not begin the sweating process says that some do sweat so as to soak thro' the other comforters, Blankets, Mattress, Their bed and often require vessels below the bed for recieving it in which several quarts are collected - without producing weakness or loss of flesh, which don't seem to me possible, unless they have a great deal more flesh & blood to begin with than Joseph has. He says his hand & arm continue to fail. Are you lonesome any - I am very sorry Jane could not have gone Saturday. Today I have been at Almeda's & after fixing xxxx you know & sweeping etc. etc. which took till one oclock & did a considerably hard Washing. She is affected not only with lame foot (which is very much better) but has had rather a bad turn of rheumatism in her neck & shoulders - and Lucy is - a good clever girl. But about work she is - I feel rather tired but will get it tomorrow.1850
