User-Contributed Transcription her from Bangor. You will not be surprise perhaps. when I tell you that I have at length decided the question and given him an affirmative answer to his proposal. I have been long in making this decision, but have now concluded it right and best. At home, where all has always been sunlight and happiness, with kind friends who have ever been tenderly thoughtful of my welfare, has this far been my lot, and I don't know as I have any reason to doubt the continuance of this happiness with another home and a new friend, but I know not what may be before me. I can hope & trust. To you, and to all my brothers, I feel that I owe a debt of gratitude which I can never repay. For all your kindness, and especially for the tender regard for my feelings which has ever been manifested, I most sincerely ad heartily thank you all. If I felt perfectly sure of recieving from another friend, the kindness, in every respect, which I have always recieved from my brothers, I would ask no more, and even though I have perfect confidence in the sincerity and strength of his attachment, still it is not without a deep struggle of feeling that I can look forward to the day when I shall forsake, as it were, the home of my childhood, and those beloved ones who have ever proved true and kind, to seek a new home and entrust the keeping of my happiness to a new friend. In connection with this change, there is, mingled with hope for the future, a feeling of sadness in thinking of the past, which I can hardly describe, and which I know not why I should feel.
