User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Apr. 16th 1847.Dear Brother I hemmed your kerchief, but had no opportunity to give it to the boys untill after they sent to you, I believe, so it will have to wait till another time. The seal I have just finished, It is so pretty I think of keeping it myself instead of giving it to you! At any rate I'll keep till I see you, as it will not 'send' in bundle very well. Some of the letters were blotted out, you know so I did not put them on- if you can make and send them in a letter, I'll finish it. Three at the top are wanting. Recieved a bit of a letter from Mother yesterday by S.W. Furber. She had just heard from Almeda. Lizzie had had the mumps and a run of fever, & then had the chicken pox. Am afraid they have'nt any of them enjoyed their visit very much. Lizzie has been sick so much. Mr. Thaxter's oldest boy, 8 years was taken sick suddenly last night. Had not his senses all night, nor much today. We are all well only Ann, Joseph and I have had colds - have not seen Eliab since Sunday. Ann has a sore throat and I some cough - Jos. got me a bottle of Hunter's balsam.
