User-Contributed Transcription Milo March 20th 1847.Dear Brother Isaac I want to write you a good long letter, but I have been so confused with the events of the past three or four weeks, that I hardly know where to begin, or what to say. However I'll try to communicate what I wish, though not, perhaps, in a very systematic manner. Ann & I came home Monday Mar. 1st ( a very cold; windy day) with Charles. About a fortnights before that, little Freddy Thaxter died. Mr. T's youngest - a beautiful boy of eighteen months. He was sick about three weeks. I had helped take care of him some, watched one or two nights etc. and what with fatigue, excitement and a severe cold, got "run down," so that for a week before I came home was quite sick, threatened with fever etc. but as good luck would have it, happened to be at Mrs, Shepherd's, and she nursed me up nicely was very kind indeed. Got a little better so I could come home, but took more cold in the way, and was quite unwell for a while, cough, pain in the side etc. so that sad to relate, I could not attend the wedding! I am now quite smart, only have hardly regained my strength. Well as I said, we came home Monday, and the next week Teusday John Cutler & wife happened along on a visit, - they went to iron mines Wednes. came back & staid till Friday. Thurs. about noon Mar.
