User-Contributed Transcription hear him. Mother & Charles were gone & I could not leave home. Mrs. Kenney knows the whole history of the Hobb's from beginning to end. I expect to get something out of her regarding little Jane's origin. Jane asked me 'tother day if Grandmother should die, if I would keep her there. She said if I could'nt, she should want me to send her to "Grandmother's Uncle Joseph's" in Massachusetts. The little sprite treasures up all she hears, & she hears more sometimes than we are aware. July 11th I am not at all sorry that I set my price at 9/ for a summer school. 'Tis the surest way to "get my name up." People begin to find that if they want a good teacher they must pay the price: that the school taught by teachers for 1.00 or 7/6 are the dearest in the end. They have had poor teachers here for some time & I find that some of my doings create quite a sensation. 'Tis an unheard of thing here to sing in school. People like it vastly. My talk sounds as if I thought myself a good teacher! Well so long as I teach at all, I hope to have that name. You will write soon, won't you, and often? In great haste Most affectionately Sister Lucy.
