Ann thinks of coming home by land in February, so as to try to get a situation in Bangor in the spring, but does not want anything said about it. This epistle bears a striking resemblance to its Author, I must acknowledge: however, you must excuse it for I can hardly write at all and suppose I ought not.Jan. 4th Theodore and Sarah called here yesterday to bespeak divers articles of furniture, such as bedsteads, tables etc. etc. they intend to commence housekeeping next week. Olive Furber is with them to borrow a Colburn's Algebra. It is said the "village master, skilled to rule," is partial in his "little School" to Miss O.K. Furber. I would fain be informed, Isaac, in what conspicuous situation you was placed, when the posterior part of your drab inexpressibly "did rend asunder so?" I shall be utterly unable to mend them - can you do without them till Mother comes home? I sun some yarn for your mittens before I was sick, & will knit them as soon as I can, but I fear not before you will need them. I dare not mention the red shirts, for I know not when I shall be able to get them done. Mr. Gilman came here last Monday. C. has sold him the black horse, sleigh and harness for $100.--, of which he is to recieve fifty days work this winter, and the rest when C. want it. So now you see I shall be obliged to abide in my own little domicile continually, till warm weather. I am preparing sundry
