User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Oct. 26, 1851 Bangor, Oct. 26 - 1851.Dear Mother I did intend to go to meeting half the day, but is not pleasant weather, so I stay at home, which by no means a new thing. Mr. Skeele from Hallowell preaches today. Mr. Tebbits found a dollar bill, going to church this morning. We all told him when he found money sabbath day he must give it for the good of the society when he went! Our people are trying to "get up steam" to build a meeting house next year, but they are poor, and cannot without a good deal of help. Samuel says he will give $100.00 towards it. I have been reading some very good - excellent pieces in the two East No's of the Independent - 150 & 151 - "The heights of the christian life" from Rev. Ray Palmer's "Closet hours." I must send them to you by the first opportunity. Samuel thinks some of going to Milo in a week or two, to collect money of Owen, - he says, too, he wants to see the old place. I should think he would want to go before snow comes. How I shall want to go with him if he does. I suppose we ought to make our arrangements for winter soon, as Frances says she wants to go home by the middle or last of next month. If you conclude to come down when she goes away, how can I go to Milo and not find you there? How odd it would seem! I want to go very much, and see all the folks. If they will
