User-Contributed Transcription your several epistles, though to be sure I heard repeatedly that you have been to Brownville! Thus much for Isaac to glory over! By the way, Isaac, about "straw" for your "brick," methinks you should be able to find enough of that commodity to satisfy the present emergency, in your own cranium, stored away there for "time of need," without being altogether dependent on making it up as you go along - eh? I beg pardon for my mistake about weddings. I did think it strange that so many sensible people together should go off on such notions. Nettie and I will do our best about suiting you with a dress, Almeda. I only wish I could run about up street and down without a carriage and driver. How would I attend to matters! Lucy seems quite disappointed that you do not come down. If my health is as good or better that at present, and Jane does not go to school, I think we can get along without Lucy next winter. It will be much easier doing the work in the new house, than here. I don't know what we shall decide about Jane's going to school.[left-hand side]There is talk of getting a chime of bells for the new Unitarian church and they are trying to raise by subscription the necessary means to put a spire on our new church. I hope they will succeed in both.
