User-Contributed Transcription [particularly] about him, whether he is going backwards or forwards or both. In Panic thought from his last letter that he might be better. If I had been well enough to do anything - I am sure I don't know what I should have done about getting a earful after receiving your last letter.h What a sight of beggars we d have here. 'Tother night a woman, very much agitated came, said they lived right in the neighborhood, told where, about half a mile above here - moved there lately, sick husband etc. Any thing would be acceptable. Samuel said he might as well give her money as food, especially as he had to cook it himself. so her gave her, 25 intending to inquire next day & if they needed, help them - but behold, on inquiry no such woman or family were to be found or heard of. I think E's dag? is first rate. Whiskers improve him -- detract sommat from the length of visage. Libe will tell you how I hurried to clean house, change carpets etc. for Mrs. Stevenson to come, when I had a bad cold & was not well. I guess I won't write any more - do write to me. Soon as I get well, I will get your shawl etc. Black Shirret? I believe you concluded.
