User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Aug. 26 - 1854. Whisk whisk away, my letter, quick, fast, to tell dear Nettie that "Energine" has come! We waited a good while for her, but this morning at 1/2 past seven, she made her appearance; a nice plump damsel is she, weighing seven pounds, and evidently inclined to make her way in the world - she nursed two time before she was an hour old! Mallie began to be sick at one o'clock - had a very comfortable time , and is very comfortable now, though, of course, she suffered a good deal, as you must know by experience. How glad and thankful we all are, and almost surprised too, that all is so well over, and that she had so quick and good a time. She had Dr. McRuen. It is now about ten o'clock - did'nt I write "quick[left-hand side and top] your affectionate sister Lucy - do please write soon. The little Cypress vine does charmingly, and also the other little flowers. If Jenny has plenty to spare, I wish she would be so kind as to save me a few seeds of Mourning bride. Mother sends a good amount of love & will write soon.
