User-Contributed Transcription when Samuel had a baby to crow to him, he could be kept at home! He and Mr. Bradeau will "operate" about as much as last winter. It is rather an unfavorable time, everything is so high. Samuel has bought Charles's Nelly for this winter. Maria and I are going with her to make some calls some day before long. I can get into a carriage alone now, though I don't do it very often. I have gained health & strength within a month very much, notwithstanding I have such a heavy baby to lift & take care of - he sits alone a little - would have done so nicely before now, had I strength of back to help him more, but to make it easy for myself, I keep him sitting in his carraige most of the time. We have an excellent girl now - pleasant, smart, neat and quick - takes care of Percie beautifully. I go to church half of every sabbath. I do wish you could enjoy some of our good sermons. Mr. Shepard has preached two upon the characters of Peter & John lately - he thinks that together they made a whole team! Maria and I often wish Nettie could stop in and spend the afternoon with us. We think of you much & feel how much you miss and need brotherly and sisterly intercourse to comfort. It is dinner time. I must
