User-Contributed Transcription The Dr. was in this morning, - he says it is teething now - his gums are swollen a good deal. He is more troublesome than ever before - just beginning to stand, and creeps very fast all over the house - when a door is open scrabbles with all his might to get out, before I catch him, laughing so hard that he can hardly go. I had to whip his hand this morning to keep him away from the tongs. He had been eating fig & was covered with it; then the black from the tongs superadded, made me think with "Mr. Dick" of Copperfield memory, "I should wash him." He makes a cake very prettily; picks it, shutting all but the forefinger tight. I have had a nice good letter from Charles lately, which I answered immediately, also one from you conjointly, which I am now answering!
