Thurs. 5 Classes as usual. Took my 10:55 class again, Elizabeth Eliza having had it for two weeks. Went to see Mrs. Foote, and finished Memoirs of European Empress Josephine - Dr. Abbott gave this evening his lecture over "Why I believe in God" - Taking Herberts Spencer's words - "One thing is absolutely certain that we stand in the presence of an infinite and eternal energy force which all things proceed" illimitable, intelligent, artistic, beneficent, everywhere present.

Friday 6 Did Quantitative Exp. 29. Dr. Abbott lectured at 2:20 on "Why I believe in Christ." the revelation of God to man. I did not fully understand his idea of the divinity of Christ - Went to prayermeeting in the village this evening.
