User-Contributed Transcription Monday. 22. A beautiful, cold, slippery day. Went to College in the morning and did my Qual. Anal. unknowns. Called at the farmhouse on my way back. Kitty Jones and her mother were here to dinner. This afternoon and evening I have spent on the bed. Finished Martin Chuzzlewit, read "Adventures of A Consul Abroad," by Luigi Monti, and studied my Chemistry Lesson more or less. Letter from Annie this morning.
Tuesday. 23. Did not get up to breakfast, nor go to chapel, but did hear all my classes today, besides going to Qual. Anal. class. Finished letter to Annie and made up equations for my unknown substances. I am getting behind in the Chemistry classes. I went across the lake twice today, and did not slip down.
Wednesday. Went to lunch early with Lottie. did Laboratory work. acid tests in Qual. Anal. Had pretty fireworks in the 1:15 and 2:55 classes. The children have struggled terribly over the problems given out yesterday. Went to the village with Minnie Wiggin, and paid my debts. Went to prayer meeting at College in the evening, stopping on the way to see Miss Stratton and Miss Patterson, whom I did not find at home. Spent the rest of the evening, after coming down, in looking the Chemistry problems handed in. Took John Halifax from the Library.
Thursday.25. Day of Prayer for Colleges. Sermon by Dr. Alexander Mackenzie Cambridge. Text "Not by weight, nor by [[power?]], but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of Hosts." We may have the Spirit by welcoming Him, and letting Him have His own way, yielding to His leadings always. At the evening meeting Dr. Mackenzie talked about the young ruler who came to Christ and was told to go and sell all that he had and give to the poor. The point is that we must do whatever He commands. There was a meeting at seven to talk over plans for a Reading Club or some such thing, among the factory girls at South Natick. A social meeting has been appointed for Saturday night, in a room which Mr. Edwards offers us. Wrote letters to Jo Cass and Miss Mary Hosford.
