Friday 26
Taught classes. corrected papers. called on Miss Patterson and Miss Stratton. Went to meeting of Committee for the south Natick work. and to Prof. Nile's lecture. I had a letter from Harl this morning. very interesting indeed - wrote to Uncle George. Read some Oberlin Reviews which Miss Monroe lent me, in one of which I learned that Jack's oration on Norse Mythology was "crude in thought, unfinished in style, but showed force and originality." Mrs. Joseph Cook spoke at 2:05 in chapel.
Saturday 27. Taught my class. attended Marion Marsh's class. corrected papers, practiced gymnastics, did Qual. Anal. Lab. work. Went to South Natick in the evening to the first meeting of what is now organized under the name of the Saturday Night Club. This first meeting seemed to be a success. We played games, talked and did business. I met with Miss Cooley, Miss Broome, Miss Lane and Madamoiselle Van Cauteren.
Sunday 28. Mr. Couran's sermon was on the text "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." A very good sermon. Miss Cooley and Miss Broome came over in the afternoon to talk about a night school in south Natick. I read the Cong. and Gospel in All Lands and Wide Awake. Sang in the evening with May Ellis, Cora Harlow and Maggie Hill. It is rumored that here is a panther loose in the vicinity - seen at Holliston.
Monday 29 Cloudy. Snow in the evening. Pater's birthday. Swept, dusted, wrote a letter and practiced Bromine experiments in the morning. After dinner, went over to Natick to carry the Singing Pilgrim to Lilla - made sewn buttonholes for Kitty, staid to supper, and rode back in a bus with some ladies and gentlemen coming to the Lecture. Dr. and Mrs. Cook. Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Walcott and another gentleman, whose name I did not learn, thought we were introduced. Went to Prof. Nile's lecture with Dr. and Mrs. Cook. It was very interesting and the views were beautiful. Kitty is engaged to Mr. Russel. Letter from Annie this morning with a very short one from Pater. Also Jack is to join the church next Communion - [Maban?] Cottage has a clock at last.
