Wednesday Apr. 11
When Mrs. Louie tried to get up this morning, she fainted away, soon recovered and we hope will not be sick. Left M. at 9:50, found a letter from Annie on the way to the depot. Spent most of afternoon here at [?]aban Cottage mending my clothes. wrote to Flo. went to prayer meeting in the village. it was a Bible Reading on the Hand of God. my verse was "He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness." After I came back we all, including Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer, talked over the Tewksbury Almshouse, the Fast Day Sermons, Butler in General. then told conundrums and read nonsense from Through the Looking Glass until 10:30. I had intended to study my S.S. lesson in that hour before going to bed.
Thursday Apr. 12. Term begins
Did not work very hard today, a beautiful morning, but clouded in the afternoon, in the evening it rained hard with thunder and lightning. Taught my two classes in A.M. came down early, feeling sleepy and expecting to spend afternoon and evening on Bible papers. Instead of that I went to society at Mrs. Coman's with Mrs. Sawyer. had a very nice time. came back in wind, raing + darkness though the woods. Mr. Sawyer, Mr. Smith, Pauline and Cora Green being also of the party. The distinguished Mexicans, all but Gen'l Diaz himself, visited W.C. today. I saw them afar off, but was not sufficiently well dressed to participate in their entertainment. Letter from Harl, also one from Miss Dascomb, which came in a letter to Miss Mo[?].
Friday. 13.
Rainy, until latter part of afternoon. Taught three classes, and spent some time in analysing Ink. Went to see Miss Shafer. In evening, sewed braid on to my dress, finished Bible papers, all that had been handed in, at least. read my Tribune quite thoroughly, learning in it how to make dynamite. Miss Chandler led chapel.
