which we went down to see Miss Showers - Mended clothes & read Shakespere - King Richard II. Funeral at 4 in church. Burial in military form with battalion from Fort Monroe. A volley fired over the grave, & good night call sounded from bugle - students & teachers filed around & threw flowers into the grave. Payers as usual in evening - Misses Moore, Adams & Forte came over to our room afterwards.
Sunday. 14. Lovely weather. Kept door at C.D. meeting this morning, to find out what it was like - S.S. as usual - Temperance Lesson - Poorhouse in P.M. rowed. W.H. Harris went to help row. Miss Cleveland & Miss Moore went also - church Service. no sermon - addresses by several of the colored ministers of the Convention - somewhat tiresome - Walked to cemetery after church with Minnie Wilson, Amanda Carter, & Lizzie Wilkerson. Y.M.C.A. meeting after supper. heard 2 of the former members of Pastors class - also Rev. Mr. Deems & Pres. Hayes of Lynchburg, & of Oberlin, '88. At chapel in evening several graduates of this school spoke, about the General. Mr Banks - Mr Daggs - Mr Deems, Mr Brandon - Very tired after it all - service lasted till 9:15.
Monday. 15. Clouds in P.M. but scarcely any rain. No letters - Wrote to John, Nette, Laura
