Jan. 1, 1894. Cloudy in A.M. soon clearing. beautiful weather. Letters to Miss Foote & Wi & Mary. New Year's Postkarte from John. Went to Emancipation Day Exercises in P.M. heard speeches from Cottrell, Cook, Sykes, Lytle, McElderry, Scott Tucker, W.J. Parker - Essay by Mary Fleming - mostly good - especially Tucker & Sykes. Went to afternoon tea at Mrs Tileston's, called on Mrs. Goodrich, the Tucker's & Dora Freeman - Socialble in evening - Miss Moore & Adams & I took the two older Tucker girls - Thomas Hunt was there & was sent away. New Year's Resolutions acted out at supper at our table - each for the others to guess.

Jan. 1. A Monday, but followed by Tues. evening and Wednesday morning - Wrote letters. Helped clear up old clothes' room in A.M. with Misses Freeman and Adams. Printed papers on kingdom of Israel for Middlers. enough for both classes. Myrtilla took my night middlers to write Scholarship Letters all the evening. I went to bed at 8. read to Miss Booth from Review of Reviews early in evening -

Wed. 3. Classes as usual. No regular Teacher's Meeting, but special meeting of a select few to talk about an Advanced Course. Myrtilla had my boys again until about
