A gentleman slept over us, but did not take possession of his seat until bedtime -
Tues. 11 Woke up just before reaching Pittsfield, one hour late. Left Margaret Steele & met Kate Kelsey at Springfield - had a nice visit with her for as far as South Framingham - waited there half an hour, had some breakfast, wrote note to Carrie Post, and postal to Nette, wh. we mailed at Wellesley, 11:07. Mr. Bigelow brought me and my trunks to Cottage St. House - I found the housekeeper, Maggie, and men bringing in furniture - rather forlorn - went up to College and had a talk with Miss Shafer, got list of girls, saw C.F.R. - ate dinner, bought soap, matches & stamps at Bookstore - + came back here. Miss Denison here also this afternoon, helping us get started - none of the girls for this house have arrived. Had supper here and went up to Mrs. Manly's for a few minutes - unpacked trunk & began on box - desk arrived -
Wed. 12 Rain in A.M. Clear & beautiful in late P.M. Stayed at the house about all day to receive the girls. - 6 arrived - 4 girls and 2 fathers were here to dinner, very unexpectedly to Maggie and me - All but one of the girls came without sheets and pillowcases - but they are now all comfortable, I hope; at least they have beds and bedding - They seem to be
