User-Contributed Transcription Milo Oct. 8th 1839Dear BrotherMr. Lee starts for Bangor to day and I will write a line just to tell you the news.We some expect Joseph will go right away to Boston, Mr. Whipple sent word that he expects to want a boy in his store, and if he does want one, would like Joseph and will give him $2.50 per week the first year, $3.00 the next, and $20 addittion the third; we all think it just the chance for him to go there, even if he should stay only a year or two, and then study, or do something else:- we are afraid he can't go, but we shall hear. I expect unclear week about it and if he does go, it will probably be soon,Mother thinks if you cannot sell the wool for about 50 you had better send it right up by Mr. Cutts. as Charles can sell it for that at Seber on somewhere about here. We want a barrel of flour, and if you send the wool home, he will send some money to you, and too, to buy the flour, some other way. If Joseph goes, Charles will go down with him; if he (Joseph) does not, I do'nt know as C. will go at present. We received a letter from you last Friday by way of Mr Cutts instead of Mr. Hatch which got opened through mistake at Mr. Mitchell's and left att Mr. Hill's. I feel quite encouraged about a dance for school, and shall prepare myself so as to be all ready if there is a chance. Howe clever it would be for you and I, to be there together. Go on with your studies with good courage, remember the values of time, especially spring time of which it is said none know the value till it is past. E. A.
