User-Contributed Transcription not very abundant. Vegetation is very rank & full this year, crops, grass & heavy - this month has been almost as cool as October usually is here - we seem to have exchanged seasons with you -- a large part of the time we have had clear cool invigorating air - the warmest part of the season was before we came home. I received a letter from Lissie Thaxter a few days ago polite, cool & formal, dated at Chicago where Mr. Thaxter now is in a good situation she had been there two weeks had "pleasant boarding accommodations" I heard by Emily Baker that she was troubled by mine somewhat. "dreaded lest my prosperity & her adversity had created a chill between us" as if such a course if true could weigh with me -- I feel a little unpleasantly about it all but time will bring all right I hope. I intend to to answer her letter before long. Arthur Ely & wife have gone east to make some stop at the sea shore, but I fear it will be without benefit. Their handsome house is vacant & I believe for sale. It is getting dark & I must send this to mail Do write soon to us With Much love to all Anna.
