User-Contributed Transcription stay much longer where you are. I have been thinking you might pursue your studies to advantage here. I visited the seminary the other day, went in to see the library which is quite a respectable one, and saw the rooms for students: they are large and pleasant having two sleeping rooms belonging to each.Properly speaking, there is no Classical School now, but there are several preparing for college, under the tuition of some of the Theological Students paying a low tuition: they have all the privileges of the Seminary the use of a room &c.; board including washing and mending is from 1,00 to 1,25. Now I have been thinking that you might come at the commencement of next term, about the middle of Oct. stay two months or so, for which you would easily provide the means, -- I owe you 8,00 and could let you have some more -- in mid winter you could take a school of two or three months, the avails of which, would carry you through the next term of the Institution, when you would be ready to enter college. The expenses would be less than at any academy, and the advantages (in all respects -- of preparing for future usefulness, greater.I hope you will guard against indecision; -- the great bane to progress in any thing good. We ought certainly to look at a subject enough to see it in all its bearings as far as we are able, but it seems to me, this can be done better, at once, by fixing the mind in earnest, than by putting off the decision and keeping the mind balancing, to and fro. Judging from the operations of my own mind I should say, that we become in a sense unable, or at least, that it is much more difficult to judge with clearness, after balancing a thing a long time.It seems to me very important to acquire a habit of promptitude & decision, in little things, even at the expense of some failures and mistake,
