User-Contributed Transcription the first day we crossed the lake & rode by stage over the hills to Conway on the Saco there quite a large & beautiful stream Conway joins Fryeburg Maine & is a lovely spot you know Whittier has described the Saco view & valley as he has it " The green lap of Conway intervales" it is becoming a great place of resort for invalids & families from the city to recreate, breathe pure air, ride walk & fish I wish I could tell you how charming the ride was from Conway to the North of the White Mts. We literally followed up the Saco river, tracing it to it's source, a little pond close by the hotel in the notch at the very base of the mountain range the highest summit of which is Mt Washington. We rode through a little green valley well cultivated & thickly settled with farms with high mountains on each side sometimes sheeting down close to to the narrow & level valley, sometimes gracefully sweeping away to a distance the [up the side]How I wish I could see you all this morning; tell Percy Aunt Anna wants to see him Much love to all the dear ones at Bangor I mean to write to Mallie soon but I do find so much to do . the children's wardrobe generally require attention.
