User-Contributed Transcription Lucy's last letter was short and contained fewerparticulars about all the affairs, than is her want towrite:- it is a long time since you have written me, except merely a word or two, a real good long letterfrom you would do me much good. Miss Woodburyreceives at least five letters to my one, or an average;when she, not unfrequently takes three at a time fromthe office, I feel as if I wanted one too, very muchbut none comes. - I am making a new plain dark green, gingham to travel homeward in, -intend to have all preparations made beforehandso as to start as soon as school closes. I have writtento Lucy about learning here, - I have been waveringupon the subject for some time, may possibly shecause to decide differently yet. the pecuniary viewforms the only involvement, an unworthy motive fora leading and chief one, - and even on this ground Icould do better at the South. The son of a lady thatI am well acquainted with here, who married acousin of Mariette Ramsey, has just gone toGeorgia and rather a school; through him Ican obtain a situation probably next winterif I wish it, or if not then and then providence will provide me
