User-Contributed Transcription it has been warm, and vegetation has rapidly come forward; the peach trees are now in full blossom and so many of them in every garden that the whole village looks gay, while cherry and apple trees are bursting forth with beauty and fragrance: some smooth fields of winter wheat, of most brilliant green can be seen from our windows, and the leafy foliage of the trees grows upon the sight from day to day the gardens are mostly made in the village and look quite trim and thrifty. I have not taken but one walk since last winter and that was one mild day in the week of vacation eight weeks ago, since which we have had snow, and freezing weather; but now I must sometimes indulge myself the grateful and soothing influence of a walk among leafy woods and fragrant bowers, budding trees and blooming flowers. I do not think I have quite as much buoyancy and energy as is usual for me, owing probably to the sudden warm weather after a long severe winter. How are you after the winter of care and work? and how is Lucy? Eliab? Samuel? Lucy? Jane? quite a comfortable little family to be sure.
