User-Contributed Transcription Ann Mar 13thWestfield March 13th /51Dear Sister LucyReceived yours dated Feb. 14th the very day I had mailed one to Charles and Mother and before it had left town. We seem to answer each other's letters beforehand which is just as well provided we write often enough. I wrote to Eliab a day or two after and have since written to E. Doe, to Miss Smith at Racine, to Miss Bright in Wisconsin and at Mr. Pilsbury's request to Miss Woodburry of Fitchburg my ? friend at the West to see if she could come here to teach the juvenile department of the Academy - yesterday received an answer to their last also one from E. Doe dated Glenburn. she is soon going to Portland thinks seriously of going to her brother's in Illinois in company with Mr. Furber's family. She wrote me an extract from a sermon in the N.Y. Tribune highly eulogized by the editor which is nothing less than the rankest infidelity: I think it is not creditable for good Christian people to take such a paper as long as there are enough good ones to be had. Now as to yourself, I was aware that you had more upon you to bear than you were able from the time you fixed Samuel to go into the woods:-
