User-Contributed Transcription Racine Oct 5th /50My Dear MotherYour letter came safely to hand about a fortnight since. I suppose it is scarcely necessary for me to re-write again, but as it may be three of four weeks before I reach Milo I will tell as nearly as I can where I shall be during the time.I expect to start next Mond shall probably take the rail road, though a little more expensive, to Detroit, thence take a boat and land at Erie and spend next Sabbath at Westfield N.Y. instead of going on to Buffalo and staying over the Sabbath at a hotel there alone. This will be much pleasanter for me and besides secures me company from there to Boston. It is by special invitation from a young lady who visited here a few weeks ago, her brother she wrote me is going right on to Boston. From here to Erie I presume I shall find company, think I shall get along well. I had thought of visiting cousin Jerusha on my way and wrote her to ascertain the best route and the expense but have concluded the visit short as it must be is not worth the expense.I feel a little unpleasantly to pass so near Uncle Hall's without visiting them.
